On A Cold Dark Night~

On a cold, dark night, as I sat in my recliner, I was reminded of the importance of being compassionate towards those in need.

I saw a man on a bench wrapped in a blanket but still shivering from the cold. I couldn’t help but wonder how many people had driven past him without even a second glance.

What would Jesus do?

It reminded me of the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10: 25-37 where a man was beaten and left for dead, but it was a Samaritan who stopped to help him, while others passed by.

As children of God, we must be willing to deny ourselves and lend a helping hand to those in need without judgment or assumptions.

We may not always know why someone is in the position they are in, but that doesn’t mean we can’t offer a helping hand. We should be moved with compassion and mindful of what others are going through. It could be any one of us on that bench on a cold, dark night.

Let us remember to be more like Jesus, to touch the hearts and minds of those around us, and to always offer a helping hand to those in need. Together, we can make a difference in someone’s life.

Prayer: Lord, help us to be more like You, to have hearts full of compassion and love for those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Be encouraged!
