Lakeside 2, Doyline 0
Both teams were strong on the bump Monday, but Lakeside was just a little bit stronger at the plate in their victory over Doyline Panthers. Noah Spears started the game for Doyline and recorded 21 outs.
The Warriors were the first to get on the board in the fourth when an error scored one run.
Jordan Isbell earned the win for Lakeside. He gave up three this and zero runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking two. Spears took the loss for the Panthers. The righty went seven innings, surrendering two runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking none. Eli Campbell earned the save.
Dario Galvez, Austin Arbaugh and Zach Normand collected one hit for the Panthers.
Brock Case, Matthew Aguilera and Eli Santelices collected one hit for Lakeside. Jake Glass led Lakeside with one run batted in. Lakeside Warriors were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Aguilera made the most plays with eight.
Glenbrook 4, Captain Shreve 16
Captain Shreve scored 10 runs in the third inning, which helped them defeat Glenbrook Apaches Monday.
Sam Ricord began the game for the Apaches. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and six runs over two innings, striking out one and walking three.
Jackson Waller and Dawson Day were a force together in the lineup. They each collected on hit for the Apaches while hitting back to back. Day provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led the Apaches with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-1 on the day. Glenbrook didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ryan Reagan had the most chances in the field with four.
North Webster 15, Plain Dealing 0
North Webster Knights won big over Plain Dealing Monday. They got on board in the bottom of the first inning after Nathan Bernard doubled, Sawyer Wages singled, Tyler Brown singled and Plain Dealing committed an error, each scoring one run.
The Knights added to their early lead in the bottom of the second when an error scored one run. Bernard tripled, scoring two runs and an error scored one run.
In the bottom of the third, Cayden Bernard doubled, scoring one run, Wages singled, scoring two runs and a passed ball scored a run.
Wages earned the win for the Knights. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking one.
Gerrit Gillentine and Landon Allen each came on in relief for NWHS and shut down the Lions.
The Knights accumulated 13 hits in the game. Bernard, Wages, Bernard, Dajuan Coleman and Brown each collected two hits for the Knights. Wages and Bernard were rough to handle back to back in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for the Knights. Coleman and Brown stole multiple bases.
Tuesday, Feb. 20
Lakeside 14, Union 4
Lakeside Warriors won big over Union High School Tuesday. The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Jon Jon Dick walked and Eli Campbell singled, each scoring one run.
Union made the score 4-2 in the top of the third, but the Warriors jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the inning after Dick walked. Then Union committed and error and Brock Case hit into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Lakeside scored six runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth. Dick doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Campbell hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Hunter Sutton singled, scoring one run and a dropped third strike scored a run.
Case earned the win for Lakeside. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking two. Sutton began the game for Lakeside. The righty gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Campbell appears in relief.
The Warriors amassed nine hits in the game. Peyton Gray went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Warriors in hits. Dick provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Lakeside with three runs batted in. He went 2-for-2 on the day.
Sutton and Campbell each collected multiple hits for Lakeside. Dick paced them with two walks. Overall the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Gray and Dick each stole multiple bases. The team piled up seven total stolen bases and turned one double play.
Minden 15, Southwood 0
Minden Crimson Tide scored nine runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Southwood Cowboys Tuesday. Landon Brewer doubled, scoring one run, Jaxon Smith doubled, scoring three runs, Parker Salas drew a walk scoring one run and Ranger doubled, scoring two runs.
The Tide scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth. Hudson Brown singled, scoring one run, Salas singled, scoring two runs, Zander Rowell drew a walk, scoring one run, Landyn Huddleston drew a walk, scoring one run and Smith drew a walk, scoring one run.
Brewer earned the win for the Tide. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out eight and walking two.
The Tide piled up 12 hits in the game. Salas, Brewer, Bower and Ranger each collected two hits. Smith and Ranger each drove in three runs. Huddleston led the Tide with four walks.
Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 12 walks for the game. Huddleston stole two bases. The Tide stole five bases in the game and turned one double play. They were sure handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Brown had the most chances with eight.
