Central hosts honor society induction ceremony

Tuesday evening, April 30, Central Elementary School held their 2nd Annual National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) Induction Ceremony.

NEHS is a program designed for all elementary schools. It recognizes the accomplishments of the students’ academic achievements and responsibilities at home, school and in the community. So far, Central Elementary is the only elementary school in Webster Parish that has this program in place and that is much to the credit of Faculty Advisor Joni Aulds.

“NEHS is about recognizing students who excel not just academically but as a leader and good citizen,” said Aulds. “I want them to have the full experience of gaining leadership skills and mentoring others. I feel that students who participate in community activities build character, self-esteem and develop their servant heart. We are excited about the opportunities these students will have.”

The Central Elementary School Chapter of NEHS is also made up of faculty council members- Lacey Berry, Shannon Hall and Jenifer Francis.

Four candles were lit representing the four pillars of the NEHS – Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Responsibility. As the students’ names were called, each one lit their own candle from the pillar that they felt best described themselves and stated their reasoning.
