Using new lanyards provided and installed by Minden Fire Department, a flag-replacement ceremony was the highlight for many on Independence Day Thursday morning.
Every year on July 4, the American Flag, POW/MIA and those representing all branches of the military are removed, destroyed and replaced with new ones at Eagle Park on Turner’s Pond. The ceremony is hosted by Wiley Pevy Post 74 American Legion, and flags are replaced by local veterans or veteran family members.
Cindy Madden, Regent of Dorcheat-Bistineau Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution placed a special wreath for loved ones who are missing in action, were killed in action or have died.
