A shooting incident during the early morning hours Thursday has left one man in a Shreveport hospital with undetermined injuries and another housed in the parish lockup.

Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said the alleged shooter, 55-year-old Shannone Shine of Minden, is charged with attempted second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was arrested at the scene of the shooting without incident, the Chief said. Bond reportedly has been set at $350,000 on the attempted murder charge and $125,000 on the possession of firearm count.

MPD investigators said the incident occurred inside a residence on W.R. Reeder St. around 2:30 a.m. Thursday when two men began quarreling for reasons yet to be determined.

As the dispute escalated, Shine allegedly pulled a weapon and fired, striking Ada Taylor resident Russell Buffett in the face. Investigators believe Buffett was hit by a bullet from a small caliber handgun.

“The victim was hit in the mouth, and was air lifted to a Shreveport hospital,” McIver said. “His condition is unknown at this time.”

McIver said investigators are still looking into circumstances which may have led to the shooting.

“We understand the victim was planning to go on a trip to Las Vegas with a female companion. We don’t know at this time whether or not that may have been a factor, but we are continuing to gather information,” he said.
