This Thursday, July 18, the Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Commission (WPCVC) will be holding two public forums to discuss the master plan for Miller Quarters Park. The first one will take place at 10 a.m. with the second one beginning at 5:30 p.m., both to be held at the Community House in Minden.
“We did that to make sure we could make the meeting accommodating to a variety of work schedules,” said WPCVC Executive Director Serena Gray.
Parish Line Architecture presented this plan in detail with the board in May. The plan included lawn and trails, an amphitheater, playground area, dog park, pavilion, water features, storage, restrooms, seating and three separate parking lots located at East Union, Gleason and Lee Street allowing access to the park from multiple directions.
An Opinion of Probable Cost (OPC) was disclosed bringing the total cost of the Miller Quarters Park project to anywhere between $7.2M to 9.8M.
Commissioners and community leaders are encouraging the public to attend to hear an overview of the plan and hear input from the community of their wishes and/or concerns.
“This project has always been a community effort and our upcoming forum will give us an opportunity to share the vision as well as receive feedback on our work thus far,” said Gray. “Everyone is invited to attend, and we look forward to a great turn out.”
