Support for DARE and its successful anti-drug education programs runs deep in law enforcement agencies, and a donation from the Louisiana Narcotics Officers Association to help fund a DARE scholarship is just one display of that support.
“We continue to support the DARE program throughout the state,” said Webster Parish Sheriff’s Capt. Bobby Igo III. Igo is Region 1 Director of the state Narcotics Officers Association.
Igo presented a $1,000 check to Shreveport Police Dept. Sgt. Jason Jones, President of the Louisiana DARE Officers Association at the group’s annual training banquet.
DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) is considered the most comprehensive drug prevention curricula and is taught in thousands of schools throughout the United States, plus more than 50 other countries. Programs reach more than 1.5 million students annually, beginning at the elementary school level.
