A Castor man is currently facing serious domestic abuse charges as the result of a weekend incident at a Minden apartment complex.

Bruce Dandre Rushing, 30, has been booked for domestic abuse battery with strangulation and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said.

According to McIver, officers responded to a report of a fight in progress around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at apartments in the 1300 block of Lee St. Upon arrival, officers found a female crying outside the building, then observed the suspect exit an apartment in what was described as “an aggravated state.”

“The female told our officers that Rushing grabbed her wrists and when she attempted to get away, he reportedly choked her from behind,” McIver said. “We learned the victim’s two children were present during the incident.”

Multiple witnesses at the scene reportedly told officers they observed Rushing choking the victim and beating her while she was on the ground.

Rushing is currently being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. Bond has not been set.
