Minden City Council members are scheduled to adopt around a $45 million budget at their regular meeting Monday night, preceded by a public hearing.
At last month’s workshop, the council went through the most recent draft, along with department wish lists, some of which will be reflected in the final 2024-25 budget.
In addition, the council will award a bid for the construction of the Public Works Control Center Phase 2 and grant authority to advertise for street improvement projects bids.
Scheduled to receive improvements are East & West Street, Guy Miller Road, Jennifer Circle, Kitchens Court, Laurel Circle, Mignon Street and Woodhaven Drive.
An ordinance levying taxes of 5.05 mils on all taxable property within the city limits will be addressed. Those properties are designated as part of the Minden Downtown Development District which means an additional 1.89 mils, bringing it to a total of 6.94 mils within the district.
Other business:
• Possible appointment of Tommy Davis to the Minden Municipal Fire and Police Civiil Service Board;
• Hear the budget/financial report for June 2024; and,
• Hear fire and police reports.
Prior to the regular meeting is a public workshop at 4:30 p.m. where members and department heads will discuss the airport, a fireworks ordinance and electric vehicle charging rate.
The regular meeting (beginning with the public hearing) will be held at 6 p.m. August 5 in Council Chambers at Minden City Hall. The public is invited to attend.
