John Dawson Carlisle, age 56, was born on March 14, 1968 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Clyde “Buster” Carlisle and Frances Carlisle. He passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2024 doing what he loved most, coaching.
John began his career as a sports broadcaster with the Clarksville, Texas radio station. Not only did he broadcast games, but he knew the statistics of all the players in all the sports from memory. This talent earned him the well-deserved nickname “Stats”! John then continued his career, serving as a coach in several Texas schools, in whatever sport he was needed. He ended his coaching career at Richards ISD, Richards, Texas as their volleyball coach.
John had a heart as big as Texas and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved the Lord, his family, his students and Southern gospel music, especially The Gaithers!
John was preceded in death by his father, Clyde “Buster” Carlisle and sister Carol Carlisle Duhon.
