Minden City Council to discuss property purchase during today’s monthly meeting

Purchasing property on Recreation Drive is on the Minden City Council’s agenda today (Monday, October 7).

Just over 72 acres of property is reportedly owned by Gary Hammond of Landbridge Development LLC who has offered to sell the land to the City for $600,000. Property value was appraised at $950,000 on July 26, 2022.

Other items on today’s agenda include the following:

• Authority to award bide for 2024-2025 street improvement project;

• Authority to advertise for bids for one new 55-foot bucket truck;

• Adopt ordinance for annual bridge maintenance report;

• Adopt resolution for annual certification for compliance with State of Louisiana Off-System Bridge Replacement Program;

• Adopt resolution requesting that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Division of Aviation provide funds required to complete the airport improvements at Minden Airport specifically as described in the Capital Improvement Program application for the State Financial Assistance dated September 2024;

• Budget/Financial report for August 2024;

• Fire report for September 2024; and,

• Police report for August 2024.

The Minden City Council meets at 6 p.m. in Council Chamber at Minden City Hall. Preceding the council meeting is the council workshop at 4:30 p.m. in the Pelican Conference Room. The public is invited to attend all meetings.
