As of 9 p.m. Thursday, Minden Police were still working diligently to make progress in the shooting death of 36-year-old Dequincy Jones of Minden.

Jones was found dead in the parking lot of Hillside Apartments on Industrial Drive in Minden around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. He had been shot in the head.

Minden Police Chief Jared McIver said there was a gun recovered at the scene.

“We are not sure if it was the one used in the actual shooting until we get the autopsy reports back,” he said Wednesday.

“Right now, we haven’t determined whether (the shooting) was self inflicted or homicide,” he continued.

Police are still gathering evidence, talking to possible witnesses and checking for camera footage.
