Webster Parish votes largely Republican

Polling places were busy, lines steady.

Donald Trump swept his way into the office of President of the United States and Louisiana and Webster Parish voters made it known they wanted a Republican in Washington DC.

When all the parish precincts were in, Donald Trump won the parish by 68 percentage points to Kamala Harris’ 31 percent. Statewide, it was much the same.

In Webster, Republican Mike Johnson will return to Washington representing the 4th Congressional District. He won with 82 percent of the vote in the parish.

Locally, Cotton Valley’s mayor is Republican Bruce Lee, Jr., who won with 56 percent of the vote over Democrat Bridget Johnson.

Town of Cullen will have a Mayoral runoff between Democrat Doris L. White and Terry “Bippy” Hoof (No Party).

Bill Ingersoll (No Party) is Cotton Valley’s Police Chief over Independent Donald Dillard 61 percent to 39 percent, while Town of Cullen’s Chief of Police race was a little closer. Democrat Fannie Rankin won with 56 percent to Rosetta Carr’s 44 percent.

Coby Barton, a Republican, won Chief of Police in Dubberly 127 votes to Seth Young’s (No Party) 21 votes.

Cotton Valley Aldermen (five to be elected) are Reginald Shaw, Terry Brown, Dodie Carter, Charlene Lewis and Delvin Hawkins.

Town of Cullen Aldermen (five to be elected) are Yolanda Castleman, Denise Epps, Barbara T. Green, Bianchi Veal and Floydean White.

Aldermen for Town of Sarepta (five to be elected) are Michael A. Corley, John Hamilton, Nelda Hines, Claire Tyler Lay and Jason Martin.

Sibley Mayor Robert Smart was unopposed. Sibley’s five aldermen are Wayne Bolton, Pamela Chanler, Richard Davis Sr., John Langford and Keith Merritt.

Constitutional Amendment Act. No. 408 passed with 64 percent of the vote.
