Low-light training helps deputies hone skills

Webster Parish deputies completed low-light training Tuesday, honing their firearm skills in less than perfect conditions.

Training under low-light conditions is part of a state certification program designed to prepare law enforcement officers for potentially dangerous situations that could occur anytime, day or night, said Capt. Joel Thomas, WPSO firearms training instructor.

“We respond to calls for assistance at any hour, in all types of weather conditions, so we want to be prepared,” he said. “Our job is to protect our citizens and our deputies train hard to be ready for any situation.”
