“No Shave November” has officially ended and that extra facial hair growth on many Webster Parish Sheriff’s deputies and staff has gone a long way toward helping needy parish families.
Sheriff Jason Parker presented the Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry a donation of $420, money raised when Sheriff’s Office personnel were given the opportunity to opt out of the department’s dress code for a good cause.
Staffers changed their appearance for a minimum donation of $20, and all the money collected was handed over Wednesday to the local non-profit’s executive director, Jessica Lewis.
“This money will help feed approximately 17 families,” Lewis said. “We want to sincerely thank all the Sheriff’s Office staff for their generosity and their willingness to help.”
“Our goal is to always be ready to provide assistance where it’s needed,” Parker said. “This was a fun way for us to help a worthwhile cause.”
The Joe LeBlanc Food Pantry has been serving Webster Parish since 2007, supplying food for free to families in need in the area.
