A sharp-eyed Minden police officer on patrol in a local neighborhood brought a quick end to a vehicle burglary last week with the arrest of four juveniles.
Chief of Police Jared McIver said Lt. Spencer Tippen was in the area of East and West St. and Fort Ave. when he spotted a group of male juveniles wearing latex gloves with hoods on their heads.
“Lt. Tippen detained the group and shortly after he did so, he was advised by dispatch that a witness had observed the juveniles committing a vehicle burglary at a Fort Ave. residence,” McIver said.
After making contact with the victim, personal items in the suspects’ possession were identified as stolen from the vehicle, McIver said.
“One of our big advantages is that we are fully staffed and we’re able to have officers constantly on patrol in our neighborhoods, especially during the evening hours,” he said.
McIver said the juveniles were placed in custody and taken to police headquarters where they were later released to the custody of their parents.
