Starting tonight I-20 commuters and travelers …

NIGHT TIME INTERSTATE CLOSURE: I-20 westbound at I-220, Bossier Parish (I-20 Rehab Project)

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on the night of Thursday, December 5, I-20 westbound will be closed at the I-220 interchange in Bossier City.

This nighttime closure, which will take place from approximately 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. over the course of four nights, is necessary to allow the contractor for the ongoing I-20 major rehabilitation project to continue to prepare the concrete barriers to shift traffic onto the remaining new travel lanes in the westbound direction. This is an ongoing process, with the first portion of the shift having already occurred from Industrial Drive to Airline Drive.

A similar process is also ongoing for the eastbound direction. Once all traffic in both directions is shifted onto the newly constructed travel lanes, the project will be considered fully transitioned into Phase 3 (final phase of construction).

As a reminder, Phase 3 involves removing and fully reconstructing the outside (right) lanes of the interstate from Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive in both directions, as well as rebuilding the ramps at Industrial Drive (currently underway), Benton Rd., Barksdale Blvd., and Airline Dr.

The I-20 project webpage provides a variety of resources and updates as work progresses. To access that page, click here. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late 2025, weather permitting.

Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

Alternate Route: Westbound traffic on I-20 will be detoured to I-220 during the nightly closures.

This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
