Christmas

Everyone who has a garden, vegetables or flowers, always is missing some sort of tool or another.  You know, we’ve got to have the newest and best tools.  Let’s see what I can come up with for the gardener.

Of course, we need a Tractor.  Either a big green one or orange.  That and the implements wood be a great expense.  Start simple, what about a tiller?  They make all sizes and styles.  There are really small tillers for the small garden spots.  They are easy to handle and move around.  So, we’ve got the garden tilled up and ready for planting.  Fertilizer and lime would make good gifts.  What about an earthway planter.  These are great for the big gardens and also for taller people.  My dad was 6’2″ and loved his planter.  It was a shame that I didn’t get him one earlier.  He only got to use it one year.  Planters come with seed plates for each size seed.

Of course, a gardener could always use seed.  Seed has become expensive and some are scarce.  Sweet corn seed has gotten up to and above $25.00/pound.  Anyone that plants corn would be tickled to receive a pound of corn, beans or peas.

Hand tools include hoes, shovels, clippers, and sprayers.  From 1 gallon to 25 gallon sprayers are always handy to have.  Did you know that hoes are specialized for certain jobs.  Here at Minden Farm and Garden we carry 9 different kinds of hoes and 12 different shovels.  Let’s don’t forget loppers, and trimmers.  Some good hand tools are also available.  I like the ones made by corona and fiskars.

If you want to give good sprinklers, Dramm is the brand to buy.  Water hoses and timers are also great gifts.  Garden gloves are also handy to have.

As I said earlier, there are lots of gifts that a gardener would love to have.  Just check around their storage and you’ll come up with great ideas.
