Little Warriors teams play well in Monroe tourney

The Little Warriors baseball and softball teams wrapped up their season this past weekend with a championship tournament held in Monroe.

The 5/6 grade softball girls took home the championship title for the second year in a row in their age division after working their way through a tough bracket.

“We had a great regular season with only one loss, and I’m glad we were able to carry that success into the season-ending tournament,” said head coach Marcus Harmon. “We avenged our 1-run loss to Ouachita Christian School (OCS) in the first round with a 9-1 victory.

Although the team was down two starters – one injured and another out of town, the team rallied to overcome that adversity.

“These girls will definitely leave their mark on the Little Warriors program,” said Harmon. “I look forward to seeing them play in junior high and high school.”

Following them, the 3/4 grade baseball boys came in second place in their division.

“We are so incredibly proud of every single player and coach this season,” said program organizer Tara Wallace. “Our 3/4 grade softball team and 5/6 grade baseball team even fought hard today. Thank you again coaches and parents for everything you did to make this year a huge success. It’s a great day to be a Warrior.”
