Last February (2024) City of Minden and Republic Services experienced a price increase for local trash collection and disposal per a 7-year agreement.

Monthly fees were raised to $17 (residential), $15 (apartment) and $19 (business), an increase of around $6 per year or 3.5 percent.

For 2025, residential will raise to $17.50, apartments will be raised to $16.50 and businesses will increase to $23 per year.

All will again see an increase in 2026 of $18 (residential), $17 (apartment) and $26.50) business, according to the contract.

“The idea for the city with trash pick up is just to break even,” said Minden Mayor Nick Cox. “These are very minor increases.”

The decision to add 2026 fees to the vote “finishes out this administration’s term,” he added.

Fees become effective January 1, 2025 and January 1, 2026.
