Minden Fire Captain Brandon Chreene has been promoted to the rank of Battalion Chief following retirement of Assistant Fire Chief John Thompson who spent 39 years at Minden Fire Department. Chreene is a 22-year veteran of the department. Chreene’s promotion is part of Fire Chief Brian Williams’ restructure of his department by attrition, in order to have fewer officers on shifts.

In other business, the council voted for the following items:

• A resolution showing support for a grant to allow the city to improve the water distribution system in the area near Webb Court and Oak Knoll intersections replacing water mains that are more than 50 years old, upgrading from 2-inch mains to 6-inch.

• Award a bid to build one 60X60-foot hangar and one 80X60-foot hangar to Southern Craftsman Construction LLC of Alexandria in the amount of $1,164,000.
