Traffic stop ends in sizable drug bust

Springhill police turned a traffic stop into a sizable drug bust last week and a pair of north Webster Parish men are lodged in the parish jail as a result.

Chief of Police Will Lynd said officers stopped 56-year-old Freddie Poole for driving under suspension and during a precautionary search, discovered roughly one-half ounce of suspected methamphetamine on his person.

Springhill detectives Chris Jones and Cliff Causey, enforcing a search warrant for Poole’s Sarepta residence, found 52-year-old Michael Flint outside the residence when they arrived. The detectives reportedly searched Flint and found suspected methamphetamines on his person.

Inside the residence, the officers reportedly found illegal drugs along with cash, drug paraphernalia and a firearm. 

Flint was arrested for Possession of Sch II CDS Sch II (methamphetamines).  His bond has been set at $5,000.

Poole was arrested for possession of CDS Sch II (methamphetamines), possession of CDS Sch II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.  His bond has been set at a total of $91,000.

Both individuals were booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. Officers said more arrests could be pending as the investigation continues.
