A special session of Minden City Council to vote on a budget amendment will be preceded by executive session to discuss litigation, and afterward a vote for amending the budget is expected in order to settle the litigation. It will take place at 3:15 p.m. today (Friday, March 7).
According to Open Meetings Laws R.S.42:11 and R.S. 42:28, “Public bodies can only enter executive session for specific reasons outlined by law, such as discussing employee disciplinary actions, pending litigation, or real estate negotiations.
“Even though deliberations occur in private, the final decisions made during an executive session must usually be voted on and announced publicly.”
The meeting will take place in the Cypress Conference Room, Minden City Hall, 520 Broadway, Minden.
