North Webster pair arrested for drugs

Debris blowing onto the roadway from the back of a pickup truck caught the attention of a Cullen police officer late Friday, but it was an object allegedly tossed from the driver’s side window that has a north Webster Parish couple in hot water.

Springhill Chief of Police Will Lynd said SPD officers Amandia Hamilton and Lino Rodriguez joined the Cullen officer to bring the vehicle to a stop. During a subsequent search along the route, officers discovered a sock filled with illegal contents that had allegedly been tossed.

Inside the sock, officers reportedly found 20.48 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 30.45 grams of suspected marijuana and a scale.

Officers also found a small bag inside the vehicle containing a small bag (0.05 grams) of methamphetamines, several spoons with resin, used syringes, baggies with resin and several Q-tips and swabs.

Zachary Rushing (no photo available), the reported driver, is charged with possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines) with intent to distribute and obstruction of justice.

Rushing, 33, gave a Montgomery Dr. Address in Springhill. He is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. No bond has been set.

Candace Hall, 59, a McArthur St. resident in Cotton Valley, admitted the bag found in the vehicle belonged to her. She is charged with possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamines) and is in the parish jail with bond set at $10,000.
