Thursday, March 20th was the first day of Spring. Let’s see what was brought to us this day.
It started out at about 43 degrees. It felt colder than that when I left the house. We have the heat on at work for awhile. At 10 o’clock it is time for the air.
People are dying to plant their gardens. We have lots of beautiful vegetable and flower plants to sell. Is it going to freeze again? Well, according to legend (often called the old wives tale)it thundered in February. When it thunders in February it will frost and freeze in March. This year it thundered 4 times.
If you have not heard that tale, come to the Minden Farm and Garden to listen to the rocking chair bunch. You have to get out early though. This usually starts about 8 a.m. We really do have a great bunch of guys that rock and talk. We really do learn things from this group of guys. Not only do they talk about the weather, we get the cattle prices, learn who is sick or have died this week. Always there is plenty of coffee drinking going on. It’s the best of times. We love them all.
Ok, back to the first day of Spring. The wind has been terrible lately. People are trying to spray their yards and pasture for weeds. The longer that you have to wait, the harder the weed will be to kill.
It was the first day of Spring on the 20th day of March 2025. A beautiful day and sunny and 62 degrees. Life is always great in the spring. By the way, I’m one of the old wives now.
