Glenbrook Lady Apaches take last four games

It was a good weekend for Glenbrook’s softball squad as the team picked up a trio of wins.

Glenbrook 4, Claiborne Christin 0

A strong pitching performance by Glenbrook’s Rebecca Mosley got the Lady Apaches off to a good start Friday. Mosley gave up just three hits and struck out eight in her six inning outing.

Glenbrook scored three runs in the first two innings to give Mosley all the cushion she would need.

Chloe Gregg led Glenbrook at the plate with two hits in three at-bats. Gabi Brown had two RBI. Brown, Vivian Still and Chloe Gregg had multiple stolen bases as the Lady Apaches rang up 13 steals in the game.

Allie Wainwright took the loss for Claiborne Christian and led the team at the plate with a two-for-three performance.

Glenbrook 13, Caldwell Parish 3

Colby Hollis had two hits, including a three-run home run in the fourth, and five RBI to lead Glenbrook past Caldwell Parish 13-3 Saturday.

Glenbrook got on the board in the top of the first inning when Hallie Harmon singled to center field, Gracie Heard walked, and Chole Gregg walked, each scoring one run.

In the top of the third, the Lady Apaches added to the early lead on sacrifice flies by Ellie Earnhardt and Anna Vining, a Vivian Still triple and a Hollis single. The Lady Apaches tacked on five more in the fourth.

An Emily Rucker two-run home run in the bottom of the second was the Caldwell Parish highlight.

Rebecca Mosley got the win for Glenbrook, allowing four hits and three runs over five innings while striking out four and walking two. Kayleigh Beckley took the loss for Caldwell Parish.

Harmon went three-for-four and Still collected two hits in two plate appearances for Glenbrook. Gregg had three walks as the Lady Apaches collected eight walks in the game. Still, Hadley Haynes, and Gregg each stole multiple bases as the Lady Apaches sped to eight stolen bases.

Glenbrook 15, Converse 3

Vivian Still drove in five runs on a pair of hits to lead Glenbrook to its third win of the weekend. Still had a two-run inside-the-park home run in the second inning and a two-run triple in the third.

Glenbrook pushed across five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third on Hallie Harmon’s two-run double, a Hadley Haynes single and Still’s triple.

Six more crossed in the bottom of the fourth, with another Harmon RBI base hit followed by Gracie Heard’s single, a Haynes double and Ellie Earnhardt’s two-run triple keying the explosion.

Savannah Mangrum struck out 10 batters on the day. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and three runs over five innings while walking three.

Glenbrook piled up 12 hits in the game with Gabi Brown collecting three hits in three at bats. Haynes, Heard, and Harmon each had multiple hits for Still and Haynes each stole multiple bases as the Lady Apaches stole seven bases in the game.

Glenbrook 11, Calvin 6

After trailing by as many as four runs early in the game, Glenbrook’s Lady Apaches brought the bats alive late to take an 11-6 comeback win over the Calvin Lady Cougars Thursday.

Calvin went up by two in the bottom of the first inning on a Haley Martin single and a wild pitch. The Lady Cougars added to the lead in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly and Mattie Barnes’ RBI single.

Glenbrook took the lead in the top of the fifth inning when Gabi Brown singled and Chloe Gregg added a sacrifice fly following a pair of Calvin errors.

Calvin tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, but Glenbrook went back on top for good in the sixth on a Colby Hollis RBI single, a two-run double from Anna Vining and Gregg’s sacrifice fly.

Rebecca Mosley got the win in relief for Glenbrook, giving up four hits and four runs (one earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out nine and walking two. Martin took the loss for Calvin.

Glenbrook tallied 12 hits in the game. Vivian Still led the way with three hits in four at bats and Hallie Harmon collected two hits in four at bats. Hollis, Gregg, and Vining had two RBI each.
