Why did the chicken cross the road? It may have been to avoid becoming one the Minden Lions Club’s Famous Chicken Charbroiled dinner plates last Saturday.

Club treasurer Charles Purdy said the club grilled 800 pounds of chicken earning $428 in cash sales and 377 redeemed tickets, totaling $4,280.

Co-chairs of the charbroil were Lion Alvin Maynor and Lion Steve Griffie.

Proceeds fund Lions’ community projects.
