Doyline saw its state playoff run come to an end Friday in heartbreaking fashion, dropping a 6-5 decision in eight innings to Family Community Christian.

Doyline had entered the bottom of the seventh with a 5-3 lead, but a Dylan Dunn two-RBI double sent the game into extra innings. In the bottom of the eighth, the Warriors’ Kyler Roberts came through with a two-out RBI single to end it.

Jonas Florence doubled to give the Panthers an early 1-0 lead, but FCC scored two in the third to claim a 2-1 margin. A Warriors’ error and a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Dario Galvez pushed Doyline back into a tie.

Noah Spears’ two-run double had given the Panthers the 5-3 lead in the top of the seventh.

Roberts earned the win for FCC, giving up just one hit and no runs over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one. Spears took the loss for Doyline, going the full seven and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out eight and walking three.

Florence went three-for-three at the plate to lead Doyline, while Spears had one hit and two RBI.

Roberts led FCC with two hits in five at bats.
