Freedom Sunday at First Methodist Minden

On Sunday, June 29, 2025 in the 10:45 a.m. worship service, the Chancel Choir and congregation of Minden’s First Methodist Church will celebrate “Freedom Sunday,’ a commemoration of Christian patriotism and religious liberty. The service will be followed by a free fried fish lunch catered by Hugh Wood.

The choir accompanied by full orchestra will present selections reflecting our religious heritage, our love of our country and the freedoms we enjoy as citizens, both of America and of the kingdom of our God in Whom we trust.

Other singers in our community are cordially invited to join the expanded choir for the celebration. Rehearsals are scheduled for the four Thursday evenings in June from 6 until 8 p.m., beginning June 5. Each singer is asked to purchase his or her own Freedom Sunday shirt at a cost of $15.

Rehearsals will be held in the Earl Cooke Music Suite at the church, located at 903 Broadway in Minden. The most convenient entry to the music suite is the double doors on the lower level, directly across McDonald Street from the Broken Bean Café.
