Homer man arrested by MPD for narcotics

A Homer man is currently custody after Minden police officers found a quantity of illegal narcotics during a traffic stop last week at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 80 and LA 531.

Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said Treylon Houston, 25, a resident of the 1600 block of Saint John in Homer was arrested Friday, May 30 just after midnight.

McIver said Officer Cadyn O’Connor initially stopped Houston for a traffic violation, but became suspicious of his behavior during an interview. MPD Sgt. Ben Sparks arrived as backup and learned from Houston that marijuana had been smoked inside the vehicle.

Further interviews of the suspect admitted a jar containing small baggies of natural marijuana was inside the vehicle. During his search, Sgt. Sparks reportedly found more illegal narcotics plus scales used to weigh narcotics.

Officers reported more than 39 grams of natural marijuana, 3.51 grams of synthetic marijuana, five Xanax and five MDMA pills were confiscated as a result of the arrest.

Houston is charged with possession CDS Sch. I (marijuana) with intent to distribute, possession CDS Sch. I (synthetic marijuana), possession CDS Sch. I (MDMA), possession CDS Sch. 4, (Xanax), possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of open container law and three traffic violations.  Bond has not been set.
