Dorcheat Museum board approves moving forward with expansion

By Paige Gurgainers

Things are moving along for the upcoming expansion at the Dorcheat Historical Association Museum. The board approved moving forward with the anticipated expansion in March and the ball continues to roll.

According to executive director Jessica Gorman, the museum is currently waiting for the plans to be finished and submitted to the Fire Marshal’s Office for approval. Once that step is complete, things will really ramp up.

“We are excited that work on our long-awaited expansion will begin very soon. On behalf of the museum, I’d like to thank everyone who has so generously donated in support of this project,” said Gorman. “At this point, funds raised will allow completion of the first portion of the project.”

The Dorcheat Historical Association Museum is looking forward to sharing updates once the work has begun and cannot wait to invite the public to see the new space once completed.

Gorman has expressed her profound gratitude to donors who have made it possible for the museum to move forward in preserving the history of Webster Parish and invites everyone to continue the fundraising efforts, as more funds are needed to complete the project in its entirety.
