The Minden High School Class of 1970 is getting together on Saturday, June 21, 2025 to celebrate 55 years since walking across Tide Field to receive those hard-earned diplomas.
“But we are looking even further back to those days when we took classes at ‘Eastside’ and ‘Westside,’ as well as Theresa M. Lowe Junior High School,” said Marilyn Miller, one of the reunion organizers. “We’re inviting all of those students who accompanied us, if only for a little while.”
The time of the reunion party is 5 p.m. The venue is The Courtyard on Pearl Street in downtown Minden. The cost of the event is $35 per person.
No evening would be complete without a dinner catered by Hugh Woods, a Minden favorite. He will be serving his melt-in-your-mouth baked chicken, southern green beans and au gratin potatoes, and his lavish Bread Pudding.
What else can attendees expect?
“Well, what you cannot expect is loud music,” Marilyn said. “We’ve always had music and a live band, and that has been great. But this reunion will be a time for visiting and renewing old acquaintances.”
Reunion organizers urge attendees to find their GRIGS and “study” them in preparation for “The GRIG-Seniors 1970 Trivia Game.” There will be first and second-place winners, who are guaranteed a gift (and it won’t be Geritol!!).
“Minden has changed a lot over the past decade,” Marilyn said. “There are new places to stay and exciting places to eat. Make a weekend of it and join us on Saturday. The Courtyard on Pearl is easy to find – just south of the Minden Post Office (with parking nearby).”
“Come on back to dear ole Minden High…”
