Mt. Lebanon Historical Society’s Flag Raising Ceremony was held on July 4th at the Stagecoach Trail Museum. Six veterans were honored: Philip Towns (Air Force), Charles Butler (Air Force),Wayne Carter (Air Force), Wally Reed (Army), Lestar Martin (Army), and Jack Land (Army). Donna Sutton, Regent of Dorcheat-Bistineau Chapter DAR, presented each veteran with a lapel pin and a certificate from the chapter, and presented the historical society with a certificate of appreciation.
Cindy Madden, Past Regent of Dorcheat-Bistineau DAR, was guest speaker. Her presentation described events of the beginning of the Revolutionary War in 1775, the role of DAR in patriotism, and gave information about three Revolutionary War soldiers who are buried in northwest Louisiana.
