A Shreveport man has been arrested for the January armed robbery of a Minden woman and the kidnapping of a juvenile who was forced to take the suspect to the victim’s residence.

Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said 23-year-old Tykendrick Tyrell Weathers was arrested Wednesday in Shreveport by the U.S. Marshal Violent Offender Task Force and transferred to the MPD Thursday.

U.S. Marshals reportedly acted on a warrant issued for Weathers after Minden detectives had gathered evidence identifying him as the gunman who pulled the January 27 robbery and kidnapping.

Weathers is charged with armed robbery with a firearm and second degree kidnapping and is currently being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center. His bond has been set at $325,000.

MPD Det. Matthew Hicks, who investigated the incident, said evidence showed Weathers threatened a male juvenile with an AR-style rifle and forced the juvenile to take him to the robbery victim’s residence. Weathers allegedly was looking for the victim’s daughter who had allegedly stolen $100 worth of marijuana.

Once at the victim’s Columbia St. residence, Weathers reportedly threatened to “shoot up the residence” unless the victim paid him money for the alleged stolen marijuana. No one at the residence nor the juvenile reportedly were injured in the incident.

This information has been provided by a law enforcement agency as public information. Persons named as suspects in a criminal investigation, or arrested and charged with a crime, have not been convicted of any criminal offense and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
