Drug arrest spoils Labor Day for Sibley woman

By Pat Culverhouse

Labor Day wasn’t a reason to celebrate for a Sibley woman after a Minden police officer found illegal narcotics inside her vehicle during a traffic stop.

Chief of Police Jared McIver said Officer Branthony Brown stopped a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Nicole Ashley Alexander for a traffic violation at the corner of North Talton and Mignon just before 3 p.m. Monday.

During the officer’s questioning, he reportedly noticed Alexander acting nervously and received permission to search her vehicle.

A subsequent search uncovered  a bag on the driver’s side floorboard, and inside the officer reportedly found one whole pill and one half-pill of Clonazepam in a pill bottle. Also inside the bottle were two half-pills of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride and Naloxone Hydrochloride (Suboxone).

Also inside the bag was a small container with a white crystal substance and a straw with the end shaped into a spoon. Alexander reportedly admitted she knew the narcotics were inside the vehicle.

In addition to the traffic violation, Alexander is charged with possession of CDS Sch. III, possession of CDS Sch. IV and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held in the parish jail where bond has not been set.
