
The 39th Annual MLK Celebration Commemorative Service will commence Sunday, January 18, 2026, 3:00 PM at the Mt. Zion CME Church. The Keynote Speaker for this momentous service will be Dr. LaKishia Lewis Grider.
Dr. LaKishia Lewis Grider is a native of Minden, Louisiana. She is the wife Mr.Tyrone Grider. She is also a loving mother and Dear Dear (grandmother). She has more than 26 years in the field of nursing first beginning as a Registered nurse then as an Doctoral prepared Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) dually certified specializing in critical care, family practice, acute care and Aesthetics. She is the owner of The Beautyful Secret, medical and wellness spa. Focusing on health, beauty, skin care, and aesthetics, and CEO of Non-profit The Beautyful Secret Foundation, LLC that focuses on community empowerment and health disparities in rural communities.
In her spare time, she enjoys teaching, reading, shopping, singing, and watching sports with her family.
She began working at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center as a nurse practitioner in March 2009,
during this tenure she also taught clinicals for THE Grambling State University as well as Southern Arkansas University, and Southern University of Shreveport training future Registered nurses and preparing them to become professional nurses. In June of 2025 she decided to part ways with the Veterans Administration and focus primarily on her Medical and Wellness Spa, The Beautyful Secret, LLC., located in Shreveport Louisiana, and one coming in Spring of 2026 to downtown Minden, La. Her desire is to be a advocate for the rural community allowing others to realize that focusing on health prevention is essential and they should strive to be the best version of themselves.
Dr. Grider is an active member of the New Light Baptist church of Minden where she works with the youth department, Sunday School and is a member of the choir. She also is a Board member for the North West La Chapter Sickle Cell Association. Also, she is a strong advocate for prevention of chronic disease and management to promote healthier lives in the underserved communities. She has sponsored health fairs and promotes health initiatives to improve communities and educate regarding health and the importance of being an advocate for your own health.
As Co-Owner of The Beautyful Secret Foundation, LLC. Formerly Love Our Neighbors, LLC., Dr. Grider along with her husband, Tyrone Grider and The Clytie Lewis Scholarship Foundation serves the Chrichton Hill community as well as surrounding neighborhoods on Christmas day with food, toiletries, and children toys. 2025 was the 12 th year of the organization serving hundreds of men, women, and children for the Christmas holiday season.
Dr. Grider is a Silver Status (25+ year) member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated
and is active with the Delta Lambda Omega Chapter of Shreveport, La. where she serves as
Health Committee Co-Chair, and works on the Committees for Founder’s Day and Sisterly
Relations.
