A 62-year-old Minden man is currently sitting behind bars after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend with a box cutter during a verbal dispute.

Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said Jobbie D. Peters, a resident of the 600 block of Constable St., is charged with domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon following his arrest Thursday.

Peters reportedly is being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under a $50,000 bond.

Officers reportedly responded to the Constable St. residence in response to a domestic disturbance call shortly after 4:30 p.m. and found the female bleeding from a cut beside her left eye.

According to the woman’s statement, she and Peters had been living together for about one month. She reportedly was attempting to walk away from Peters following an argument when he allegedly cut her.

She reportedly was treated for her injury at the scene by EMS. Peters reportedly told arresting officers he did not know how the woman received the cut.
