A felony abuse charge has been filed against a 65-year-old Minden man who allegedly struck a female in the face causing serious injuries.

Minden Chief of Police Jared McIver said Jeffery Williams has been booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on a charge of domestic abuse battery. His bond has been set at $5,000.

Officer Cody James was dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Gum St. Saturday to investigate a reported domestic dispute with injuries. When the officer arrived, he reportedly was met at the front door by a female bleeding from her nose and mouth.

During questioning, Williams reportedly admitted a physical altercation had occurred and said he “…may have struck (the victim) in the face with his elbow.”

As the investigation continued, blood transfer consistent with the woman’s injuries were also found by the officer on Williams’ shoulder.
