Minden City Hall releases monthly address

April is a busy and productive time for the City of Minden as we continue the daily work of serving our citizens while also building momentum in economic development across our community.

One of the most important parts of that effort is having the right leadership in place. Our Economic Development and Main Street Director, Sarah Overall, is actively working with local businesses, recruiting new opportunities, and helping move projects forward in our downtown and throughout the city.

We are seeing the impact of festivals and events in driving tourism to Minden. These events bring people into our community, support local businesses, and showcase what makes our city a great place to visit and spend time. This summer, we will celebrate Minden’s 190th birthday along with our country’s 250th anniversary during our 250/190 Celebration, which will take place June 12 through June 14. This will be an opportunity to bring residents and visitors together while highlighting everything Minden has to offer.

On the industrial side, the expansion of Fibrebond under Eaton is creating new jobs and new opportunities for our workforce. Projects like this strengthen our local economy and provide long-term stability for families in our area. At the same time, we are continuing to build partnerships between Webster Parish Schools and Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College to ensure our workforce is trained, prepared, and ready to meet the needs of local industry.

We also continue to celebrate the businesses that have helped build Minden into what it is today. Western Auto is celebrating 90 years of service to our community, and the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Minden is marking 125 years in our city. That kind of longevity speaks to the strength of our local economy and the relationships that have been built here over generations.

Minden continues to build momentum as a business-friendly city with room to grow, a workforce that shows up, and a quality of life that continues to improve. We are focused on removing obstacles, supporting small businesses, and creating opportunities for investment across our community.

Economic development is not about any one project or announcement. It is about creating an environment where businesses can succeed, families can grow, and investment continues over time. That is the approach we are taking as we move forward.

Thank you to the many citizens, business owners, and employees who contribute to making Minden a strong and vibrant community. I look forward to sharing more progress with you as we keep moving Minden forward, together.

Mayor, City of Minden
