Dorcheat Museum to host North Louisiana Historical Association Spring Awards Luncheon

The North Louisiana Historical Association is gathering on Saturday, April 25, from 11:30 to 2:00, at the Dorcheat Historical Museum, 116 Pearl St., Minden, LA 71055.  NLHA Board member and Dorcheat Museum Executive Director Jessica Gorman is hosting our sit-down luncheon.  There is room for approximately 50 guests, so please reserve early.

Cindy Madden will speak on “Edwin Sanders Richardson:  A Model Educator.”   E. S. Richardson (1875-1950), a native of Webster Parish, served as school superintendent in Bienville Parish (4 years) and Webster Parish (16 years), directed the LSU Junior Extension Service (8 years), and was appointed President of Louisiana Tech (1936-41).  He briefly acted as President of LSU in 1939.  Madden is Richardson’s great-niece.  She is eager to share her discoveries about her relative, whose career spanned so many changes.  The educational system he developed became a model for innovations across the state and nation.

Our locally-owned vendor is Fat Guy’s Catering of Minden.  The menu is: Grilled Pork Chops, Sweet Potato Casserole, Fresh Green Beans (not canned), Dirty Rice, Dinner Rolls, Iced Tea, and Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce.

You may mail your check for $20 per person to P. O. Box 6701, Shreveport 71136, or pay at the door.  Email jowe@tjc.edu by Tuesday, April 21, for a head count to the caterer.  Please include the names of all attendees.
