ORIGINAL STORY:

One person is deceased in a house fire that occurred early this morning on Cadillac Street in Minden.

According to Minden Fire Chief Brian Williams, his firefighters received the call around 2 a.m., and when they arrived on scene, more than 50 percent of the residence was engulfed in flames.

“Our response time was less than four minutes,” Williams said. “It was an inhabited dwelling, and we were aware of the victim and the location inside the house. It was only a matter of a couple of minutes before we had the flames knocked down enough to enter the residence.

Williams sent two teams inside – one to fight the fire and one to search for the victim.

Advanced EMS was on the scene and transported the victim to Minden Medical Center. Williams did not say if the victim died at the scene or at the hospital.

Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s office will be on the scene today to determine cause of the fire.

“We ask for prayers for the family and our first responders,” Williams said.
