SPRINGHILL, La. — During its regular monthly meeting April 13, the Springhill City Council unanimously adopted a proclamation recognizing April 2026 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, approved utility write-offs, and considered bids for air conditioning repairs at the city court building.
The proclamation marks 25 years of progress in prevention and support efforts surrounding sexual assault awareness. Officials emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen resources for survivors and promote community-wide prevention efforts.
The council also approved $5,892 in utility write-offs for the first quarter of 2026. The write-offs are related to customer non-payment on utility accounts. The council did not provide additional details regarding the accounts.
In other business, the council considered bids for air conditioning work at the Springhill City Court building. Two quotes were presented: one from Arkla Air totaling $15,179 and another from Webster HVAC and Electric for $9,907. The council voted to accept the lower bid.
