U. S. Senate primary run-offs, two tax propositions on June 27 ballot.

There is little in the way of parish-wide items on the June 27 ballot, but the ones that are there are important. Early voting is June 12-20, excluding Sunday, June 14 and Friday, June 19 (Juneteenth).

In addition to the primary run-off for U.S. Senate (Democrats and Republicans), a Webster Parish School Board Proposition for Education Facilities Improvement is parish-wide. A 1 percent tax is estimated to bring in more than 4 million dollars per year and would be collected for a period of 20 years beginning on October 1, 2026.

The Town of Sarepta is asking their district voters to authorize them to levy a 2.50 percent sales tax, estimated to collect $282,500 per years beginning April 1, 2027. Proceeds would be “dedicated and used for any lawful corporate purposes and pay the cost of capital improvements for such purposes.
