Man shot during apparent armed robbery attempt

Minden police are currently rounding up suspects in a Sunday evening shooting incident which left a local man suffering from two gunshot wounds.

Chief of Police Jared McIver said the victim was shot in the hand and leg during what appears to be an armed robbery at a residence on Webster St. around 8 p.m. Sunday.

McIver said the individual was taken to Minden Medical Center for emergency treatment, then transported to a Shreveport hospital. His wounds are not thought to be life-threatening, the Chief said.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending further investigation, McIver said.

“Our preliminary investigation indicates there were multiple individuals involved, including some juveniles,” McIver said. “Our detectives are working some very solid leads and conducting interviews. We hope to have arrests soon.”

McIver said the suspects apparently went to the residence to steal firearms.

“We know they took at least one firearm, perhaps a second,” he said.

Investigators believe the robbery attempt began inside the Webster St. residence, then carried outside where shots were fired.
