More than 100 senior citizens will find the heat a little easier to tolerate, thanks to donations of money and fans by local residents.
Organizer Michael Walker and his wife Chequella set up a tent outside their residence Saturday, July 4 to greet friends and collect fans to distribute..
“First of all Chequella and l thank God for giving us the health and strength to be able to help our Minden communities,” Walker said. “We also like to thank all the wonderful people of Minden and the surrounding area that braved the heat and came by and donated the fans.”
Walker added that with monetary donations they will be buy more fans.
“We had people sending fans in from as far as Detroit, Michigan, Los Angeles, California, and Arkansas,” he said. “Again thanks to all.”
The Walkers have a list and will begin distributing fans this week.
“If you know someone in need of one, please let us know,” he said.
