A second suspect has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting incident in late May which left a Minden man wounded.
Chief of Police Jared McIver said 24-year-old Xavier Warren, a resident of the 800 block of Fincher Rd., turned himself in Thursday morning at police headquarters.
Warren reportedly was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center where he is charged on a warrant with three counts as principal to attempted second degree murder and one count of principal to assault by drive-by shooting. His bond has been set at $900,000.
“Our detectives and officers had been really turning up the pressure in their search for him,” McIver said. “It was just a matter of time.”
Warren is charged in connection with the Friday, May 29 shooting which occurred in the vicinity of Talton and Peach streets. Multiple shots reportedly were fired at the victim, apparently as the result of an altercation earlier in the evening.
Just one day after the shooting, police arrested 23-year-old Kendrick D. Taylor of Minden and charged him as the person who pulled the trigger. He is charged with attempted second degree murder and assault by drive-by shooting.
Taylor is currently in the parish prison under a $950,000 bond.
McIver said detectives are still investigating.
“We know there were multiple persons in the vehicle at the time of the shooting and we’re still developing leads on other potential accessories,” he said. “We don’t intend to stop until we have everybody involved.”
