Minden businessman Ty Pendergrass, candidate for District 4 of the Webster Parish School Board, has withdrawn from the race.

On Pendergrass’ Facebook page he announced his decision:

“Last last week- another candidate came forward & filed for the school board seat in District 4. This candidate lives near the center of District 4 & his wife is employed by the WPSB. Additionally, the canidate has several children that attend Webster Parish Schools.

Having a candidate in District 4, centrally located & with a long term vested interest in Webster Parish Schools I have decided to withdraw as a candidate. My name will not appear on the November ballot. 

The remaining candidate will be free to use his time to prepare to serve the people of District 4.

I was humbled & encouraged by the many comments I received regarding my interest in serving our parish through a seat on the WPSB, but I have a real peace about my decision. 

It is important to pray for our schools, teachers, students, administrators, school board members & other essential personnel that they would be safe & successful.”

Gary Odom, a Republican from Shongaloo will serve District 4, beginning in January.
