The Webster Stage Company is preparing to bring a cast of fairytale favorites to life this fall with its upcoming production of Shrek the Musical Jr., and local students are invited to take the stage.
Auditions are open to students in grades 3 through 12 from Minden and South End schools. Organizers are encouraging students of all experience levels to participate, whether they are seasoned performers or stepping onto the stage for the first time.
Based on the popular DreamWorks story, Shrek the Musical Jr. follows the adventures of the lovable ogre Shrek and features a colorful cast of familiar fairytale characters, energetic musical numbers and plenty of laughs along the way.
Students will have two opportunities to audition. The first session will be held Sunday, Aug. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Minden High School Auditorium. A second session will be held Monday, Aug. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lakeside High School Library.
Students only need to attend one of the two audition sessions.
Parents and students interested in participating are asked to carefully review the Parent & Audition Information Packet and complete the Shrek the Musical Jr. Audition Registration Form prior to auditions.
The Webster Stage Company hopes the production will give young performers throughout the area an opportunity to build confidence, develop their talents and experience the excitement of live theater alongside their peers.
“We can’t wait to see our cast of fairytale characters come to life,” organizers shared in the audition announcement. “Whether your child has years of experience or would be stepping onto the stage for the very first time, we encourage them to audition.”
