LDWF agents arrest Denham Springs woman for Amite River boating incident
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents arrested a Denham Springs woman on Aug. 10 for alleged boating violations. Agents arrested Nanette Normand, 63, for careless operation of a vessel, four counts of negligent injuring, and failing to file official operators report. Agents booked Normand into the Ascension Parish Detention Center. The charges stem from the investigation into a three vessel collision, which occurred on the Amite River near Summerville on July 18. The collision led to two adults and two juveniles being ejected from their vessel and transported to local hospitals. An adult female remains hospitalized from injuries sustained in this boating incident.
Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office recovers stolen vehicles during July investigations
The Claiborne Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered several stolen vehicles and made arrests during investigations into thefts and criminal damage to property reported throughout July 2026. According to CPSO, deputies responded to numerous calls for service involving thefts and property damage during the month. Arrests have been made, and additional arrests are anticipated. During the investigations, CPSO recovered three stolen four-wheelers, one stolen side-by-side UTV and one stolen motorcycle.
Additional items associated with the respective investigations were also recovered.
LSP makes arrest in Mooringsport man’s fatal hit-and-run
Louisiana State Police troopers have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a Mooringsport man last month. Additional details on charges and the suspect’s identity are expected from LSP Troop G as the investigation continues.
Mulkey bringing LSU, Mikaylah Williams to Natchitoches for Christmas Festival game
NATCHITOCHES – The 100th Natchitoches Christmas Festival picked up star power Tuesday. Kim Mulkey and her LSU women’s basketball team, including Bossier City-Parkway products Mikaylah Williams and Chloe Larry, are visiting the City of Lights to play at Northwestern State – where Williams’ mother played. NSU welcomes LSU to Prather Coliseum on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 6 – the day following the annual Christmas Festival parade and the biggest fireworks show of the season. It is the first time the Lady Demons have hosted LSU since 1983-84. The Tigers will be the first power conference opponent to come to Natchitoches since Alabama in the 1997-98 season.

Winnfield native Dewayne Mitchell, founder and owner of Buckshot Records LLC, has achieved a major national milestone. Mitchell and his independent label have been named an official top finalist for the 2026 Infiniti Music and Film Awards. The annual awards celebration, which honors outstanding talent across independent country, gospel, hip-hop, pop, and rock sectors, will take place on October 7–8, 2026, at the iconic Troubadour in Nashville, Tennessee.
Structure fire reported near Robeline
Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District No. 7 were dispatched at 9:32 p.m. on Aug. 11 to a reported structure fire in the 200 block of Albritton Road near Robeline, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. Units arrived on scene and found the structure fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported. The scene remained active. Deputy Sgt. T. Freeman was on scene on behalf of the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
