My name is Tamara Tanner, and I am a candidate for Webster Parish School Board District 11. My desire to serve comes from a deep love for this area. My family began commuting to Webster Parish nearly 15 years ago, fell in love with the community, and decided to make it our permanent home. Two of our three daughters graduated from high school right here in the parish; today, one is a K-2 Educator, one is a Physical Therapist, and one is a Nursing student. As a mother, I know that a quality education is the foundation for a successful future.
Our schools are full of faculty and students who deserve a voice. To be effective, the School Board must work collectively to advance the entire district. While I am only one person, I am committed to being a voice of reason—helping to set the vision, approve budgets, and create policies that ensure our schools can focus on what matters most: helping every student learn and succeed.
I was born into the home of a preacher, so I know firsthand about living in a glass house and the importance of being transparent in business dealings. I have worked in banking, the legal field, the private sector, and helped run an oilfield business with my husband. Currently, I serve as the Section 8 Housing Director for the Webster Parish Office of Community Services. My career has strengthened my belief that strong communities begin with strong schools and that listening to people, solving problems, and serving others should always come before politics. In every position I have held, communication has been key. No matter the business, your voice can be your greatest asset. If given the opportunity, allow me to be your voice to do the important work of the school board for a better Webster Parish.
This year’s school board election finds multiple seats coming available on the board due to term limits. Our communities will be choosing new leaders who will help shape the future of education in our parish. Because of this unique opportunity, it is more important than ever that we thoughtfully choose individuals who will listen, lead with integrity, and make decisions that put students first.
Over the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting with many of you, hearing your ideas, learning your concerns, and sharing my vision for the future of our schools. I would be honored to earn your trust, your support, and your vote. Together, we have an opportunity to help shape the next chapter of education in Webster Parish. On November 3rd, vote Tamara Tanner. The Right Time. The Right Voice.
